What comes to mind when I say dream? Do you get filled with excitement and anticipation? Does your heart sink because you’ve tried and failed? Maybe you’re an adventurer and dreaming is your daily state of mind- your head fills with possibilities and wonder. For others, dreaming sounds like a waste of time because there is simply too much to accomplish right here and now. Regardless of where you currently find yourself on the subject, I invite you to open your mind and hear me out.

“God already has dreams for you; the question is have you asked Him about them?”

You have time to dream. In fact, taking your attention off the present reality long enough to see a glimmer of what could be might be just what you need right now. Jeremiah 29:11 says, ” For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” God already has dreams for you; the question is have you asked Him about them?

DREAM

Vision brings an everlasting element to life. Dreaming is essential to living fulfilled. When following Jesus your job isn’t to figure out all the details. (If you’re a Type-A personality like me, sorry, I know that one can be tough!) Simply go back to when God first spoke to you about the plans He has for you, and park right there! There is no rule against asking God to show you again.

“God is so good, so big, and so FOR you, that even if some unrestrained passion gets you off course, He will lovingly pull you back in; worst case scenario… you learn a few bonus lessons.”

DO

Assignment is a fancy way of saying, “You are a part of making this happen!” Stepping out in faith and taking action will be required if you are ever to live a dream. Personally, when I get that feeling of butterflies in my stomach or the not-so-ladylike feeling of nausea before I speak or publish a piece of my writing, I know I’m onto something and should follow it with all the faith I have! For you, it might be different, but I encourage you to step into it! God is so good, so big, and so FOR you, that even if some unrestrained passion gets you off course, He will lovingly pull you back in; worst case you learn a few bonus lessons.

DECIDE

Make up your mind that you are here for this very God-given assignment. Understand and accept that your assignment may look different than your friends or family members. The key is this: God called you. Decide today, and everyday, that’s enough. You were God’s first choice to be where you are. Esther 4:14 says, “Perhaps this is the moment for which you were created.” Those words were said to a game-changing woman in the Bible who was having doubts about her own assignment and they gave her enough courage to fulfill her purpose in her generation. Allow that truth to take root within you.

“Dreaming alone can honestly be discouraging. Dreaming with God is life-giving.”

DELIGHT

This moment right now is a moment in which God can be found. Dreaming alone is usually self-serving, frustrating, discouraging and ultimately futile. Dreaming with God is empowering, life-giving to others as well as ourselves, and personally fulfilling. Delighting in the Lord comes when we are able to give Him space to blow His breath- this brings clarity, breakthrough, and victory. How do we give God room in this process of dreaming, doing, deciding, and delighting? Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.” God knows what He is doing at all times, even if we don’t. When a dream has been dropped into our hearts, action has been taken, and our minds are made up that God calling us is enough, we may delight in His presence and our purpose.

Before you go, allow me to leave you with a secret ingredient that all daughters of God chasing a dream need- stay in sync with Jesus. All questions fade, anxiety melts away, and fears are silenced when we are in sync with Jesus. If it’s been a while or maybe you’re in a dry season, let me assure you that God is in everything. Never doubt His omnipresence and His personal interest, even when you don’t sense either. Genesis 28:15, “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.”

Love & Prayers,
Haley
