Believe in marriage- its beauty, power, healing abilities, and fulfillment.
Many a little girl has dreamt and will dream of one day meeting her Prince Charming and being whisked away into a new life filled with wonder, adventure, and lots and lots of love! Marriage is filled with those lovely things, though one usually only experiences them after navigating some not-so-fairytale like terrain. If you’re newly engaged, don’t be scared. You are in one of the sweetest seasons, don’t wish it away, don’t blink, don’t stress yourself out. You have the best days ahead, along with many normal days, and a few that aren’t so fun, however, most importantly you have many days with your very best friend.
Four years of marriage hasn’t made me an expert, although I would argue it has taught me what I believe to be the most valuable lesson there is- to believe in marriage. Not just to believe in its God-given design, but the unique purpose for my marriage. Likewise, your marriage has been uniquely ordained by God with a purpose to fulfill while on earth, and it begs your belief in it.
“Trust me when I say, God knows your why, and He knows how you will fulfill it.”
The very first time my husband, Isaac and I boldly asked ourselves the question, “Why did God put us together?” There were crickets, crickets, and more crickets! Neither one of us had an answer. Talk about A W K W A R D. Little did we know asking that simple question launched us into what would be a unpredictable adventure of together seeking the Lord, dreaming, praying, and living our lives from a God-laid foundation- a God-ordained why. Though some trying times have given us every reason to doubt our union, say things we don’t mean, and position one another as the enemy, our belief in our why brings us back to center every time.
There would be no Isaac without Haley. There would be no Haley without Isaac. We are a team. We are on this planet to add value to other people; more specifically by showing them Jesus, then ultimately leading them to Jesus. I’m certain as time goes on the curtain will be pulled back more and more on our story: marriage & ministry, healing from our pasts, keeping fun in the mix, and financial planning just to name a few!
Before you go, I just want to say that no matter the condition of your marriage, your ultimate resource for wisdom, healing, restoration, and anything else is God. Whether you are just starting out, a decade into your story, or marriage is on the horizon, invite God onto the scene and seek His heart for your relationship. Trust me when I say, God knows your why, and He knows how you will fulfill it. Marriage is amazing. Marriage enlarges your heart and your life in ways you couldn’t manufacture.
Love & Prayers,
Haley
